When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract this location data from the images.

Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA)

Our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise, which helps us distinguish genuine enquiries from automated spam. When you use the form, Google receives and analyses information such as your IP address, characteristics of your browser and device, and how you interact with the page, in order to return a risk score. This processing is carried out by Google and is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service. We use the result solely to judge whether a submission is automated, and for no other purpose.

Where a submission is blocked as spam, we keep a limited technical record of it — the submitted form fields, the IP address and the browser identifier — so that we can verify no genuine enquiry was rejected in error. These records are deleted automatically after 30 days.
